Suhayl Essa is a qualified medical doctor with a funny bone. He began stand up comedy 6 years ago performing across South Africa whilst making time to save lives in his spare time.
Suhayl has featured on multiple Comedy Central shows as well as Kagiso Lediga’s Late Night sketch show with Hugh Masakela: “The Bantu Hour”. After a mere 2 performances, he was introduced to a legend and thus became one of the opening acts for Riaad Moosa’s one-man show: “Doctor’s Orders”. More recently, Suhayl has opened for Best Comic of the Year Carvin Goldstone in Durban as well as two times Emmy nominated, London-based and Netflix’s first African comedian Loyiso Gola at the Grahamstown Arts Festival.
In September 2017; Loyiso invited Suhayl to travel to London to dazzle audiences at various clubs which included the world-renowned Backyard Comedy Club as well as Up the Creek Comedy Club which proved to be a highlight of his career.
